The Foundation Ca' Romanino takes its name from the home which is also its headquarters. Established in February of 2013, it acquired the goals of the Association by the same name. Its new institutional form offered the possibility of involving an ever-growing number of qualified participants, and of utilizing Ca’Romanino (which was received as the founder’s property) to foster research and academic activities, allowing the Foundation to carry out more forceful action in the field of knowledge and to incite the completion of incomplete works (DATA) the restoration of those at risk of degrading (COLLEGI). Such actions are to be made with an eye toward the important functions that this architecture can have in the City’s innovative cultural planning.
With its active participation in initiatives which can be taken on by anybody and are aimed at anticipating the future development of the city and its territory, the Foundation is committed to offering itself as a qualified point of reference for actions and interventions - of an operational nature or of systematic elaboration - which are promoted within such a scope on the part of Corporations, Public Institutions or private individuals.
In particular, for Ca' Romanino, the Foundation is committed to seizing opportunities and launching actions, its own or in collaboration with public or private entities, in order to assemble the resources necessary to carry out the restorations and renovations which the home requires.
Ca’ Romanino, the house to which we invite you to come vacation and to stay the night, was designed by Giancarlo De Carlo in the 1960’s for his friends the Sichirollo’s (for which it is otherwise known as the Casa Sichirollo); it emerges from the top of a hill in the countryside, in one of the areas of highest environmental and panoramic quality still in existence in Urbino's territory.
